On December 12th, 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued a notice, which required all localities to vigorously publicize the relevant provisions on the use and management of livestock ear tags, promote farms (households) to fully understand the important role of adding livestock ear tags, and consciously do a good job in the construction of livestock ear tags.
On January 15th , 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced the revised Technical Specifications for Livestock Ear Tags (Revised Draft) and Technical Specifications for Livestock Electronic Ear Tags to the public.
According to the "Code", the raw materials of livestock ear tags and electronic ear tags are required to be made of non-toxic, odorless, non-irritating and pollution-free plastic materials, and recycled plastics shall not be used as raw materials for manufacturing livestock ear tags.
The ear tag code is laser engraved.
For electronic ear tags, different types of livestock require different reading lives.
Breeding class is including bossy, cow, breeding sheep, breeding swine, etc. The life requirements of electronic ear tags are more than 5 years. The performance of ear tags did not decrease significantly during this time. The annual failure ratio due to external failure is allowed to be less than 5%.
The life of electronic ear tags be used for the live pig are required to be more than 1 year, without failure, and the performance of the ear tags are not significantly reduced.
The life of electronic ear tags be used for the mutton sheep are required to be more than 2 years, without failure, and the performance of the ear tags are not significantly reduced.
